I arrived in Milan on a rainy Friday afternoon after taking a 45 minute train ride from the airport. I stayed with my high school friend, Vanessa, and her 2 friends from USC. The three of them live in a fabulous apartment right in the city. The first floor of the apartment has their three bedrooms and the second floor has a huge living room and a tiny kitchen when beautiful old marble balconies through french doors. Friday night, we went to the Italian version of a happy hour where you order one drink and get platters and platters of delicious Italian appetizers served to you for hours, for free. The next day, we walked all around the city - visited the Duomo where Carnavale celebrations were taking places and tons of little kids were in pure delight as they played with the thousands of speckles of confetti all around the plaza.

We ate a delicious Italian meal that night of fresh spaghetti and tomato and basil sauce. Sunday morning we woke up and tried the cappuccino down the street from their apartment at a little cafe, it was delicious!
Milan is a really beautiful city, industrial in its own right but certainly not lacking any beauty. It lacks the true Italian feel that I had hoped for but I am happy I got to see it and spend time with Vanessa.
